Welcome to 'Paris -- Les Fleur du Mal'

Europe has been under-represented in the World of Darkness MUSH community largely due to the fact approximately 80% of those on the Internet are from the United States; international numbers are growing as fast if not faster than those in the United States. There is something of a culture gap between Europe and America, which acts as an inhibitor upon those trying to cross it.

We started this MUSH as a dream to provide a mature and developed atmosphere/game to those interested in things going deeper than simple darkness. The three of us, the gods, have been working on the MUSH and planning it for quite a while. We have dedicated a great deal of time to the project, as have all the other administrators, and we have all done it for one reason and one reason only; we love the medium. We love what MUSHes can do, and we love finding unique ways to bring the color of an alternate persona into life with nothing but text and pure imagination. We choose to use the World of Darkness because it is one of the best currently popular themes in which players can explore that which makes us people; and that which keeps us from being perfect.

Paris: "Les Fleurs du Mal" -- The Flowers of Evil, was inspired by the works of the french poet Charles Baudelaire, as well as the many wonderful books written by the White Wolf Games Studios*, and perhaps even more so by the countless titles. For those interested, a bibliography of inspirational and reference material used in the creation of this MUSH is available in 'news resources'. The three Gods assembled a library of reference work on the city of Paris numbering at approximately 20 books, and used every one.

Paris is centered at the start in what we feel is the most interesting section of Paris, the Marais District. It is a varied quarter of the city, housing everyone from simple workers at the local charcuterie (small grocery store) to students, to politicians (the district contains the Hotel de Ville, the city hall), to business people, artists, writers, intellectuals -- the list is numerous. A detailed history of the district, including details on how the Place des Vosges -- now town houses -- was once a royal retreat, is available in 'news setting'.

We hope you will enjoy your second (or third, or fourth) life here at Paris and are dedicated to making it interesting. We believe the power of mortals to be just as interesting as any supernatural creature, and we believe in placing the story above our own concerns. At the time of opening, we have a library of storylines able to carry us well into two years without leaving people bored, and we continue to come up with more interesting and long term plots that, thanks to Saffron and her team, interlock in some very unique ways.
